Travelers Golf League Rules  


                  Rule 1: The league will play under USGA rules. Exceptions to these
                               rules are contained within.

                  Rule 2: The league shall play from the “White Tees”.


                  Rule 3: Entry Fee
                      The entry fee is $50. All monies are returned to the league 
                       in the form of prize monies/beer and pizza night after monies
                       are allocated to the web site

                  Rule 4: Division Placement
                         Assignment to "A" or "B" division will be based on the
                         player's final handicap from the previous season.
                         New players will usually be placed in "B" division.
                         Tie breaker : the overall average for the season.

                  Rule 5: Points Per Match
                          Each match will be over nine holes. One point is
                          awarded per hole with a 1/2 point awarded for a halved
                          hole. One additional point is awarded to the winner of the 
                          match. The extra point is split (1/2 each) if the match 
                          results in a tie. 

                   Rule 6: Points Per Round
                          One point is awarded each time you pay your greens fees
                          and go out and play regardless whether you have a match.
                          This applies only to the 11 regular matches.

                    Rule 7: Handicaps
                          Handicaps are determined as shown below. The handicap 
                          is 100% of the difference between the average of your
                          best 5 out of last 10 scores and 35 (rounded). The maximum 
                          score per hole for handicap purposes is a triple bogey.

                          Method used :
                              Players with 10 or more scores : 
                                best 5 out of the last 10
                              Players with less than 10 :  
                                best ½ of total (rounded)

                     Rule 8: Failure To Show Up On Time
                         If a player does not show up on time and tees off with 
                         another group, his opponent has the option of deciding 
                         whether or not to match cards that day after he has 
                         completed his round and after he knows the score shot
                         by his opponent.

                         If a player does not show up on time and joins his opponent
                         after his opponent has completed the first or subsequent 
                         holes, all previous holes will be considered won by his opponent.


                       Rule 9: Failure To Show Up
                            The following options are available:
                               1. Play the match earlier.  
                               2. Play the match within 2 weeks.
                               3. Match cards either before or after the round
                                   (maximum of 2 matching cards or 3 if your
                                   regular opponent does not show)
                               4. Forfeit the match:
                                      7 points to opponent, you get 1 point
                               5. All make ups must be concluded within 2 weeks
                                     or a forfeit is applied. Exception: If a player uses his
                                     card, his opponent has up to a maximum of 2 times 
                                     played on that side to make up the match.


                      Rule 10: Playoff Rounds
                           The top 8 finishers in each division who have shown up for at
                            least 7 regular matches qualify for playoff competition.
                            (Make Up Night and Tournament Night are not counted 
                            towards the 7 required matches.)

                            Ties for 4th position :
                                 1st tie breaker : A match played prior to the playoffs.
                                 2nd tie breaker : The results of the regularly scheduled
                                     match between the two players
                                 3rd tie breaker : Total number of matches won plus 
                                     matches tied by each player. 

                             All other ties are broken by using the overall average. 

                             Ties that occur during the playoffs can be broken by 
                             extra holes (sudden death) or by another 9 hole
                             match. The method of breaking a potential tie should be
                             decided by the players prior to teeing off on the first hole.


                      Rule 11: Rescheduling Of A Round
                            A round shall be rescheduled for the following week if 
                            less than 4 of the matches were completed .

                            (“Completed” matches are the sum of matches
                            finished plus players who “use” their cards) 

                            If a round is rescheduled, those who completed their
                            matches have the option to replay the match. If both
                            players agree, then the original match results/scores
                            will not be used. Those “using” their cards have the 
                            option to retract “using” their card or letting it stand.


                      Rule 12:  Strokes In A Match
                          Full handicaps are used in all matches including the playoffs
                          to determine strokes given/received.


                      Rule 13: Withdrawals
                           If a player withdraws from the league all match results
                           are withdrawn if the player had less that 7 matches.
                           If the player had 7 or more matches, remaining opponents
                           are given forfeits.

                      Rule 14: Rules Changes
                        Any rules change must have a “yes” vote by at least 2/3 of those 
                        league members voting (rounded). A minimum of 12 members must 
                        cast a vote.

                       Rule 15 : Ready Golf
                           In order for the league to play “Ready Golf”, 
                           USGA Rule 10-1C is suspended. You cannot
                           recall your opponent’s shot if he plays out of turn.

                        Rule 16: Miscellaneous rules
                             a. Course rules supersede USGA rules.

                             b. Preferred lies, in own fairway, are allowed
                                  (Lift, Clean and Place) within one club length.

                             c. Out of bounds or lost ball:
                                  Option 1 : Play the normal USGA rule
                                  Option 2 : Drop ball within 2 club lengths into
                                                      the fairway at a point where the ball crossed 
                                                      the fairway and add 2 strokes.

                             d. Lost ball in the fairway : Drop a ball with no penalty as near 
                                   as can be determined where the ball came to rest.

                              e. If a wrong ball is played, result is loss of hole.
                                    Continue playing the hole for handicap purposes.

                              f.   Ball coming to rest within a footprint or divot
                                      in a sand trap : Player may lift the ball, rake trap,
                                      and place the ball on the same spot.

                              g. Upon request, a player must tell his opponent how
                                     many strokes he has taken. Failure to do so 
                                     results in loss of hole.

                               h. If a player takes a penalty drop or any other penalty 
                                       he must inform his opponent as soon as possible.
